God Restoring Broken
Jesus meets the widow mourning the loss of her son, and Restores Broken; when asked if He was the long awaited Rescuing King, Christ points to God's promise and God's work, and asks them, "what do you go out to see?" Christ's question challenges the the inquirer to answer his own question by the factual evidence that Christ's life is proving out by the congruency of both His words and His deeds. In other words the answer you seek can be seen, it's observable, but are you willing to commit your life to living out of the truth you are seeing, that Christ is God's Promised Rescuer?
Fence sitters never impact change, their whole motivation is only to perserve self, wobbling with one foot on one side, for self benefit, in one moment, and then, the other foot on the other side, for self benefit, in the next moment. Choosing Christ, is choosing to participate in the Restoring of Broken; if you refuse to participate in the Restoring of Broken in our world you haven't chosen Christ and are refusing to believe what has been seen, a decision to preserve self, is a decision to abandon others in their broken and ultimately, yourself in your broken.
The controversial truths that form Christianity's foundation, Christ's coming, His ministry, His death, by crucifixion, His resurrection, and His returning to His Father, prove out that participation in the Restoring of Broken in humanity will cost you your life.
Your answer to the question, "Are you the one who was to come..?," is recorded as evidence by the life you are choosing to live.
