Part II: The Holy Ghost Is God

Introduction

When we jumped into this Series, last week, we checked out the Holy Ghost in
Action.

3 Biblical Examples
OT - We saw the Holy Ghost come onto Samson and an awe-inspiring display of
Supernatural Power.
NT - Paul & Silas, prisoners worshipping there God, suddenly a violent earthquake
strikes, the prison doors fly open and the chains fall off the prisoners.
Jesus - Luke chapter 4, “The Spirit of the Lord is on me…” (Isaiah 61)

This week we are going to tackle an overview of the Work of the Holy Ghost. His
involvement in the lives of those who believe, or are called “Followers” of Christ.

As we touched on last week, the Holy Ghost is often avoided because He seems so
mysterious, so untouchable, unknowable, but there is plenty that the Scriptures
have to say about the Holy Ghost.

John 14:15-17 - The Holy Ghost is God & Relational
Jesus spends his last evening before his great suffering and death teaching His
Followers about the Holy Ghost, to encourage them.
• Give = GK-Didomi: Cause to happen, Grant to, Put into Place, Appoint, Make A
Deposit into Bank.
• Counselor = (GK-Parakleet): Helper, Assistent, Advocate, Encourager, Mediator
• Sees = Look at, Understand, Experience personally
• Know = GK-Ginosko: Understand, Personal Experience with
• He Lives = GK-Meno: Stay with, continue to exist with…
• Be = Exist in, Be in place in
Point: Jesus speaking, references Father and the Holy Ghost, “Spirit of Truth,” 16
times in the NT the Holy Ghost directly identified as Co-Equal part of the Godhead,
the Holy Ghost is God; Not only that but you can know Him, Jesus says the Holy
Ghost is with you and in you. Jesus, Matthew 29:19, “Go make disciples…Father,
Son, and Holy Ghost.

Philip, tells the Ethiopian Eunuch the Good News about Jesus; after baptizing the
Eunuch Philip taken away.
Suddenly Took = (Vb. Present, Active, Indicative) Snatched, Seized, Same word as
in 1 Thess. 4:17 “Taken Up To Meet the Lord in the air, “Raptured.”

Romans 8:26-27 - Holy Ghost Intercedes
Help = Join into help, comes to the aid of…
Weakness = Incapacity, Sickened State, Timidity courage-less State.
Intercedes = Personally Petitions, Pleads for…

Always There, He will Always Love You Unconditionally; He is Always WITH YOU
and In YOU!
