Our Story
The vision was born during a mission trip in a 3rd World country serving the children and people of Pimentel, Dominican Republic. The extreme poverty and darkness seemed to retreat as life, joy, and light invaded the hearts of the children and adults of Pimentel. A dream settled in, and began to germinate...then came the name. Matt's House, what's in a name, everything! Jesus came to walk with the broken hearted, the suffering, the lost His sole mission "To Seek and Save" with mercy, acceptance, and power He changes lives! On April "Fools Day" 2007 a small group of people gathered at the Benson's house and began to breathe life into this vision. The Community Connection Center was established in, Arbutus, Maryland November 2007. Our Core Team began to serve the community with our middle school and high school campus life clubs. We volunteered for the annual Arbutus Arts Festival and continued to build relationships with people in the community. We worked diligently to cultivate relationships and develop a culture within our new spiritual community where people could feel at home. Jesus invited a man named Matthew to join His band of brothers who would change the world. Matthew's journey began when Jesus chose to hangout at Matthews house and party with him and Matthew's best friends. Jesus accepted Matthew's friends, just as He accepted Matthew He also offered them a different life. So Matthew's home became A place where people were accepted, loved, cared for, felt safe, felt comfortable...A place where people were heard, challenged, empowered...A place where people were real, discovered their relevance-purpose, and experienced true revolutionary change in their lives...this place is Matt's House...Your Family, become part of OUR STORY lets do life Together!
